Coded Words definition

Coded Words are words or phrases that may suggest demographic characteristics despite not explicitly indicating such characteristics as may be defined by the Government Sponsored Enterprises (“GSEs”) (e.g., the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation).

Examples of Coded Words in a sentence

  • At minimum, appraisals shall be flagged when: (i) an undervalue flag is present from GSEs (e.g., ▇▇▇▇▇▇ ▇▇▇); or (ii) the appraisal contains Coded Words.
