Code Silver definition

Code Silver means an active shooter is in the building. An active shooter is defined as “an armed person who has used deadly physical force on other persons and continues to do so while having unrestricted access to additional victims.”
Code Silver is used when there is a threatening person with a weapon –gun/knife. Call “88” if you feel threatened.

  • Authorization to initiate a Code Silver by level of severity: 1 Lockdown: Safety/Security in consultation with the Charge Nurse and Nursing 2 Supervisor, via the Incident Assessment Team as well as site leadership has the 3 authorization to initiate a Code Silver.

  • The Employer shall establish a communication method in the 11170 Building to advise Employees in the event there is a Code Red, Code Grey, or Code Silver.
