Chief Custodian definition

Chief Custodian means a Custodian who has completed the 120 class hour Chief Custodian training as prescribed by the Department of Education in 5.1.1 below. Employees who have earned the Chief Custodian certificate shall be paid an additional pay stipend in accordance with 14 Del.C. §1311(b). Employees who have earned the Chief Custodian certificate pursuant to 14 Del.C. §1311(b) are eligible to compete for chief custodial positions when they become vacant and earn pay in accordance with the pay scale identified in 14 Del.C. §1311(a).

Chief Custodian is defined as a non-administrative employee having immediate supervisory responsibility for custodian-firemen and custodians.

Examples of Chief Custodian in a sentence

  • The successful applicant, except in the case of the position of Chief Custodian, shall be placed on trial for a period of forty (40) working days.

  • The extent of notice required by a Chief Custodian who wishes to terminate employment shall be four (4) weeks.

  • Where a Chief Custodian is reduced one or more categories through a decrease in the number of classrooms, including portables, the Chief Custodian may bump a junior employee in that category.

  • The trial period for appointees to the position of Chief Custodian shall be sixty (60) working days.

  • When a vacancy arises because the Board decides to fill in for a Chief Custodian for a period exceeding two (2) calendar weeks during the summer months, the Board shall permit an employee in the custodial classification to transfer to fill the vacancy in preference to using a temporary employee as a replacement.

  • When the Chief Custodian is not on duty, the senior Custodian (this does not include Supply Custodians unless the Supply Custodian is replacing another employee at that location) or in the absence of any Custodians the senior Custodian shall receive a responsibility allowance of 34 cents per hour for each hour he/she assumes such responsibility.

  • The most senior Custodian on shift in each Secondary School, with a ticket where required, will be designated as Chief Custodian when the Chief is absent for not less than one regularly scheduled work day.

  • In schools with earlier starts, the start time for a Chief Custodian can be advanced but can be no earlier than 5:30 a.m. and substantiated on the basis of operational needs of the school.

  • The duties and responsibilities of the Chief Custodian shall include the care, cleanliness, heating of the school, and the supervision of custodial staff.

  • Note: A Chief Custodian must be designated by the Director of Physical Operations or designate.
