Ceased to exist means “to come to an end” or “no longer exist.” “Has ceased to exist in the 18th century” means something that was in existence earlier, came to an end in the 18th century. This means that part E can’t be used with part A or/ and part B. Also, C and E would make a grammatically incorrect sentence.
