We will pay the Benefit Amount for Carjacking, shown in Section IV-C of the Schedule of Benefits, if an Insured Person suffers a covered Loss resulting from Accidental Bodily Injury due to Carjacking.
The Benefit Amount for Carjacking is payable in addition to any other applicable Benefit Amounts under this policy.
Carjacking - as used in this Rider, means taking unlawful possession of an Automobile by means of force or threats against the person(s) then rightfully occupying such Automobile.
Carjacking means the unlawful forced removal or detention of an Insured Person while operating or riding as a passenger in, boarding or alighting from, a Private Passenger Automobile during the theft or attempted theft of such Private Passenger Automobile.
The Carjacking must be confirmed in writing by a police report in the jurisdiction where the Loss occurs.
Carjacking and highway robbery are serious problems in many parts of the border region, and U.S. citizens have been murdered in such incidents.
The Company will pay a benefit under this Rider when the Insured Person suffers one or more losses for which benefits are payable under the Accidental Death Benefit, Accidental Dismemberment and Paralysis Benefit, Coma Benefit, or Loss of Use Benefit provided by the Policy as a result of a Carjacking of an Automobile while the Insured Person is operating, or riding as a passenger in, (including getting in or out of) such Automobile.
The Company will pay a benefit under this Rider when the Insured Person suffers one or more losses for which benefits are payable under the Accidental Death Benefit, Accidental Dismemberment and Paralysis Benefit, Coma Benefit, provided by the Policy as a result of a Carjacking of an Automobile while the Insured Person is operating, or riding as a passenger in, (including getting in or out of) such Automobile.
We will pay a benefit of 10% of the Principal Sum to a maximum of $10,000 if the Covered Person suffers a Covered Loss resulting directly and independently of all other causes from a Covered Accident that occurs during a Carjacking of an Automobile that the Covered Person was operating, getting into or out of, or riding in as a passenger.
