Carbon negative means removing or sequestering more carbon from the atmosphere than is emitted and “carbon negative materials” refers to materials that are produced through a carbon negative manufacturing process.
Carbon negative means the state in which both operational energy and material embodied energy are not emitting GHGs into the atmosphere. In this situation, the combined operational and materials GHG, added together, result in a negative carbon value, meaning that the building is sequestering more carbon than it is producing.
