Calamity Days definition

Calamity Days are defined as any days schools are closed by the Administration due to snow, or other inclement weather, calamity, or energy reasons.

Examples of Calamity Days in a sentence

  • Makeup days or hours shall not be scheduled if the number of Calamity Days does not exceed the student hour equivalent of five (5) school days.

  • Makeup days or hours for professional development and/or student instruction may be scheduled by the Board at the Superintendent’s discretion in the event the number of Calamity Days exceeds the student hour equivalent of five (5) school days.

  • If such modification would necessitate the scheduling of additional work days, the Association will retain the right to demand bargaining over the scheduling of such days, except those days described as Calamity Days.

  • Calamity Days - If instructional days are lost due to inclement weather or other calamity, the staff will not be required to make up the first five (5) days lost.

  • There will be five (5) allowed Calamity Days that do not need to be made up by students or bargaining unit members.

  • Compensatory time will also be provided for employees required to work during calamity days (see Calamity Days).

  • Calamity Days - Employees will not normally be required to work on days declared to be calamity days under the requirements of state law.

  • Employees on the first eight (8) Calamity Days, and not notified to report to work, shall be paid their scheduled hours at their regular rate of pay for the Calamity Day.

  • For the first five (5) Calamity Days, employees who are directed not to report to work shall be paid their regular rate of pay for the day or part of the day when the schools are closed.

  • Makeup days or hours for student instruction may be scheduled by the Board at the Superintendent’s discretion in the event the number of Calamity Days exceeds the student hour equivalent of five (5) days.

Related to Calamity Days

  • Sabotage means deliberate damage, with malevolent intent, to a category 1 or category 2 quantity of radioactive material, a device that contains a category 1 or category 2 quantity of radioactive material, or the components of the security system.

  • Explosion means the sudden release of energy sufficient to cause pressure waves and/or projectiles that may cause structural and/or physical damage to the surrounding of the vehicle."

  • Waterborne disease outbreak means the significant occurrence of an acute infectious illness, epidemiologically associated with the ingestion of water from a public water system which is deficient in treatment, as determined by the Division.

  • War means war, whether declared or not, or any warlike activities, including use of military force by any sovereign nation to achieve economic, geographic, nationalistic, political, racial, religious or other ends.

  • Crisis means a situation in which a student engages in a behavior that threatens the health and safety of the student or others and includes without limitation a situation in which the student becomes aggressive or violent at school and is unable to regain self-control without posing a danger of injury to himself or herself or others.
