Blow off definition

Blow off. A 1” blow off shall be installed at the ends of all temporary mains. The blow off shall be constructed using a 1” brass female curb stop. Isolation valves: Shall be 2” brass female curb stops for 2” mains and 4” resilient wedge valves for 4” mains (grip rings shall be used for 4” valves). Valves shall be located as shown on the plan. The valves are attached to the mains using pre-fabricated adapters.
Blow off means a valve or device to allow the escape of air, fluid, or sediments from a pipe within which fluid is flowing under pressure greater than atmospheric pressure.
