Bates Number definition

Bates Number means a unique number assigned to a Document produced in litigation.
Bates Number means an identifier that consists of a short two to eight letter prefix, associated with the Producing Party’s name, followed by a six-digit number (e.g., ABCD000001). The prefix should include only letters, dashes, or underscores. The prefix and number should not be separated by a space. Each page in the production must be assigned a unique, incremental Bates number. The prefix must be the same for all pages produced from the same Producing Party.
