ATC Software for non-safety critical (non-vital) subsystems shall be documented and certified to the appropriate SIL level as defined in EN50126, approved and in compliance with the above said standards.
ATC Software shall be structured, to the greatest extent possible, such that system extensions and track configuration changes do not require complete verification and validation of the ATC System and shall be limited to the data portions.
ATC Software (including firmware and databases, if any) shall be developed under a comprehensive program that ensures that safety-critical, maintainable software will be delivered.
In such event (in the case of ATC Software) during the ATC Warranty Period or (in the case of other Systems Software) during the General Work Defect Warranty Period, the Primary Contractor shall cause a safety assessment to be conducted to determine the need for any action regarding the Systems Software for the relevant System, and where safety considerations reasonably warrant, the Primary Contractor shall recommend the action to be taken to implement a solution for the relevant Work.
