Appropriate Network definition

Appropriate Network means an Electronic Communications Network by means of which Public Electronic Communications Services are provided that are used by a significant number of End- Users as their principal means of receiving television programmes. For the purposes of this definition an Electronic Communications Network is not an Appropriate Network in relation to so much of a channel or other service as is provided only for a particular area or locality of the United Kingdom unless it is a network by means of which Electronic Communications Services are provided to persons in that area or locality;
Appropriate Network means an electronic communications network provided by a person (“appropriate network provider”) which is used for the distribution or transmission of broadcasting services to the public.

  • Area network means a type of electric distribution system served by multiple transformers interconnected in an electrical network circuit, which is generally used in large metropolitan areas that are densely populated, in order to provide highly reliable service. Area network has the same meaning as the term "distribution secondary grid network" found in institute of electrical and electronics engineers (IEEE) standard 1547 sub clause 4.1.4.
