Aiding means assisting another to commit a crime.34 “Abetting” means facilitating, encouraging, advising or instigating the commission of a crime.35 In legal usage, including that of the Statute and of the case law of the Tribunal and the International Criminal Tribuna l for the Former Yugoslavia (the “ICTY”), the two terms are so often used conjunctively that they are treated as a single broad legal concept.36
