Tribal organization Means the recognized governing body of any Indian tribe; any legally established organization of Indians which is controlled, sanctioned, or chartered by such governing body or which is democratically elected by the adult members of the Indian community to be served by such organization and which includes the maximum participation of Indians in all phases of its activities: Provided, that, in any case where a contract is let or a grant made to an organization to perform services benefitting more than one Indian tribe, the approval of each such Indian tribe shall be a prerequisite to the letting or making of such contract or grant.
Foreign organization means an organization created under laws other than the laws of this state for a purpose for which an organization may be created under the laws of this state.
Business organization means an individual, partnership, association, joint stock company, trust, corporation or other legal business entity or successor thereof.
Financial organization means a savings and loan association, building and loan association, savings bank, industrial bank, bank, banking organization, or credit union.
Provider Organization means an entity selected by an individual or the individual's legal representative, and paid with support services funds that:
Nonprofit organization means a university or other institution of higher education or an organization of the type described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954 (26 U.S.C. 501(c) and exempt from taxation under section 501(a) of the Internal Revenue Code (25 U.S.C. 501(a)) or any nonprofit scientific or educational organization qualified under a state nonprofit organization statute.
Labor organization means any organization of any kind, or any agency or employee representation committee or plan, in which employees participate and that exists for the purpose, in whole or in part, of dealing with employers concerning grievances, labor disputes, wages, rates of pay, hours of employment, or conditions of work.
Banking organization means a bank, trust company, savings bank, industrial bank, land bank, safe deposit company, private banker, or any organization defined by law as a bank or banking organization.
Student organization means a group, club or organization having students as its primary members or participants. It includes grade levels, classes, teams, activities or particular school events. A student organization does not have to be an official school organization to come within the terms of this definition.
Managed care organization means an entity that (1) is under contract with the department to provide services to Medicaid recipients and (2) meets the definition of “health maintenance organization” as defined in Iowa Code section 514B.1.
