Acute Care Services definition

Acute Care Services means medically necessary services that are covered for AHCCCS members. These services are provided through contractual agreements with the AHCCCS Health Plans, ALTCS Program Contractors or on a limited fee- for-service basis through AHCCCS.
Acute Care Services means those services which are necessary to the care and treatment of an unstable medical condition caused by the onset of a severe illness or injury which places the patient's health in severe jeopardy and requires immediate medical attention. Acute Care Services do not include health care or other services which are for custodial care, or services which assist in or are intended to improve the usual activities of daily living.
Acute Care Services means the short term medical treatment, usually in an acute care hospital, for individuals having an acute illness or injury.
