Academic Position definition

Academic Position means an appointment as a Faculty Member, Professional Librarian, Instructor, or Academic Assistant.
Academic Position means any position, the primary purpose of which is to design courses and assessments, assess teaching capabilities, assess student achievement or capabilities, deliver teaching/learning programmes, research and administer and supervise or coordinate courses, and for which a knowledge and skill in teaching and learning is a key requisite for the position. Terms such as tutor and lecturer are generic terms which can refer to academic staff members.

Examples of Academic Position in a sentence

  • Except in so far as the context or subject matter otherwise indicates or requires, the definitions listed in this clause apply to this Agreement: ‘Academic Staff’ are staff appointed in accordance with the Academic Position Descriptors Guidelines in place as at 22 August 2011 to positions which reflect the operational requirements and core areas of responsibility which include teaching, research and engagement.

  • If a Student Worker in an Academic Position is deemed by their supervisor to have significantly compromised the educational value of a course or progress of a research project, the supervisor shall prepare a statement explaining the concern and identifying the damage that would be caused by retaining the Student Worker.

  • In the event that a student in an Academic Position is removed from their Academic Position, they shall be offered severance pay.

  • Any student worker removed from an Academic Position may contest their removal by submitting a written complaint to the relevant Department Chair within ten (10) days of removal.

  • Student Workers removed from an Academic Positions pursuant to Section 4.7 may grieve their removal pursuant to Section 7.4. However, in the interest of academic continuity, reinstatement to an Academic Position shall be a permissible remedy only during Step One of the Grievance Procedure.

  • This severance pay shall be the lesser of the following: (1) an amount equal to the income which would be earned by the Academic Position during the relevant semester, had the student worker not been removed, prorated in accordance with the number of days remaining in the semester or (2) an amount equal to twenty hours of wages at current base pay.

  • The decision will be made by the Vice President Academic on the recommendation of the ▇▇▇▇ and the Academic Position Review Committee.

  • All academic appointments will be made at levels A – E of clause 2 of Schedule 1 – Academic Position Classification Standards.

  • Upon receipt of the request, the ▇▇▇▇ will inform the Faculty Association and appoint and convene an Academic Position Review consisting of the ▇▇▇▇, a chair, a continuing faculty from Human Resources, to consider and make endations on the request.

  • If the student worker contests removal from an Academic Position and is not reinstated by a finding of either the Department Chair or the ▇▇▇▇ of the College, the student worker shall not be eligible to receive severance pay.

Related to Academic Position

  • Academic Board means the Academic Board of the University College established under paragraph 13;

  • Competitive Position means any employment with a Competitor in which Executive will use or is likely to use any Confidential Information or Trade Secrets, or in which Executive has duties for such Competitor that relate to Competitive Services and that are the same or similar to those services actually performed by Executive for the Company;

  • Queue Position means the priority assigned to an Interconnection Request, a Completed Application, or an Upgrade Request pursuant to applicable provisions of Tariff, Part VI.

  • Biological diversity means the variability among living organisms from all sources including, inter alia, terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species and of ecosystems.

  • Academic employee Academic employee shall mean an employee in the Professional Services Negotiating Unit with academic or qualified academic rank.
