A position definition

A position means employment in a job classification as set out in Appendix A and in a specific job category as set out below. The job categories are: Permanent Full-time Employment in a position requiring regular hours work per week on a continuing basis; Permanent Part-time Employment in a position requiring less than regular hours on a continuing basis; Term Casual Employment for a specified period of time on a full-time or part-time basis; Employment on an irregular basis as required by the Employer for a period of less than three (3) continuous months. The Employer agrees not to hire term employees other than to fill a vacancy created by the leave of a permanent employee unless approval of the Union is sought and received.
A position. A defined set of particular duties and responsibilities for implementation of a District program within one (1) or more administrative units usually with particular entry qualifications as provided by statute or District job description. Positions are classified as:

Examples of A position in a sentence

  • A position with the same or similar duties and pay which can be performed at the same or similar geographic location as the position held prior to the leave.

  • A position utilized to perform interpretation, translation, or specialized bilingual activities for the department and its clients.

  • A position will be defined as vacant when no bargaining unit member has a right of first refusal to the work.
