A contract position definition
A contract position is one where a driver is dedicated to a single customer for not less than twenty-five hours per week (on average in a floating two month period). Employees on contract positions of less than forty hours per week may place themselves on the spareboard in accordance with their seniority and spareboard rules to make up the remaining hours that week and they will be treated as spareboard employees. , “A spareboard employee” is an employee who is not working a contract position under posting or on the basis of a temporary vacancy.
A contract position shall refer to all contracts where a driver is dedicated to a single customer or multiple customers for not less than twenty-five (25) hours per week (on average in a floating two (2) month period). An employee in a “contract position”, who does not receive full daily nine (9) hours or weekly forty (40) hours, has the option to go to the Spareboard to make up the remaining hours in that week in accordance with their seniority and the Spareboard Rules. In calculating whether forty (40) hours are attained in a week, for the purpose of this article, all anticipated run times and actual hours paid by the hour will be counted towards a driver’s weekly hours.
