TARRYTOWN, N.Y. (August 31, 2012) – EpiCept Corporation (Nasdaq OMX Stockholm Exchange and OTCQX: EPCT) announced today that it has amended the Company’s Loan and Security Agreement with MidCap Financial, LLC (“MidCap” or the “Lender”) effective August 27, 2012.

THIS FIRST AMENDMENT TO LOAN AND SECURITY AGREEMENT (this “Agreement”) is dated as of August 27, 2012, by and among EPICEPT CORPORATION, a Delaware corporation (“EpiCept”), MAXIM PHARMACEUTICALS INC., a Delaware corporation (“Maxim”), CYTOVIA, INC., a Delaware corporation (“Cytovia”, and collectively with EpiCept and Maxim, the “Borrowers”), MIDCAP FUNDING III, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company in its capacity as agent (“Agent”) for the lenders under the Loan Agreement (as defined below) (“Lenders”), and the Lenders.
