Within the Great Basin and Rocky Mountain Regions, subregional interdisciplinary teams (IDT) will be developing the individual EISs. Based on the identified threats to the Greater Sage- Grouse and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) timeline for making a listing decision on this species, the BLM aims to incorporate objectives and conservation measures into land use plans by September 2014 in order to provide adequate regulatory mechanisms to conserve Greater Sage-Grouse and its habitat. These measures would be considered by FWS as it makes its final determination on whether to list the Greater Sage-Grouse under Section 4 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA). Therefore, these EISs will be prepared under expedited timeframes.
