ACTION ITEM: Annual Lift Station Operation & Maintenance AgreementNovember 6th, 2021
The city has 13 sewage lift stations that pump sewage to the wastewater treatment plant. These lift stations vary in age and size (10yr-40yrs old). Public works provides basic service to the lift station including cleaning, pulling pumps, weekly flow monitoring, and basic inspection. However, staff does not have the time or technical knowledge to load test or inspect the mechanical function of the pumps (preventative maintenance). In the past four years we have incrementally purchased back-up pumps for these lift stations in the event a pump fails and needs emergency replacement (new pumps take 1- 3 months to deliver). The city has emergency equipment in-place, however we need to perform regular maintenance and evaluations to prevent emergencies.
