The general purpose of this agreement is in the mutual interests of the Company, the Union and the employees, and is to provide for economy of operation, quality and quantity of output, and to establish and maintain a sat- isfactory procedure to cover the settlement of differ- ences arising out of this Contract, and to set forth those conditions which have been negotiated. The Union recognizes that in order to provide a proper rela- tionship between the parties, the Company must be kept in a strong competitivemarket position, which means it must produce at the best possible efficiency and lowest cost, and the Union agrees to support the Company in obtaining such objectives.
