The Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) and the Canadian Architectural Licensing Authorities (CALA) concluded a draft Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on April 20, 2018, in the context of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) between Canada and the European Union (EU). The purpose of this MRA is to facilitate the professional mobility of architects between the jurisdictions of Canadian provinces and territories and the jurisdictions of the Member States of the EU by means of mutual recognition of qualifications. This text will be submitted to the CETA “MRA Committee”1 for adoption. Its coming into effect will depend on the implementation of legislative, regulatory and administrative measures to follow.
