The Council aims to raise the status of teaching, strengthening accountability and supporting the teaching profession to deliver excellent and innovative teaching. A key function of the Teacher Education Refresh (TER) programme is to ensure that all provisionally certificated teachers are able to demonstrate that they continue to meet the Graduating Teacher Standards and therefore are likely to be able to meet the Standards for the Teaching Profession. By ensuring that all of our teachers meet these standards, the Education Council is able to provide the profession, and the public, with assurance of the high quality of our teachers.
