INVESTMENT ADVISORY AND SERVICE AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT, dated and effective as of the 1st day of March, 1995, by and between AMERICAN MUTUAL FUND, INC., a Maryland corporation, (hereinafter called the "Fund"), and CAPITAL RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT COMPANY, a Delaware corporation, (hereinafter called the "Investment Adviser ").
