This Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) constitutes an agreement between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a component of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), and the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), pursuant to which ICE delegates to nominated, trained, certified, and authorized MCSO personnel the authority to perform certain immigration enforcement functions as specified herein. It is the intent of the parties that these delegated authorities will enable the MCSO to identify and process for removal, under ICE supervision, aliens in MCSO jail/correctional facilities who fall within ICE’s civil immigration enforcement priorities. The MCSO and ICE enter into this MOA in good faith and agree to abide by the terms and conditions contained herein.
