This service is to contribute towards the Purchasing Agency’s kaupapa as described below. Te Atiawa is interested in having stories about its identity, language and culture incorporated in the education system and for all children and especially Māori children to learn about them. The Ministry is interested in bringing Te Atiawa identity, language and culture into education, both in terms of Ka Hikitia and specifically on this occasion to support the theme of dual heritage, shared future in Tuia: Mātauranga. The Ministry therefore wishes to support Te Atiawa to: work with schools and other education providers in its rohe; and rangatahi and whānau So that tamariki and rangatahi can investigate Te Atiawa identity, language and culture. Schools and the iwi can then begin to develop teaching and learning resources for use by teachers and whānau.
