Variation Order. (a) Within a reasonable period after receipt of a VARIATION ASSESSMENT, COMPANY will: Section IIIA – Special Terms and Conditions (i) accept the VARIATION ASSESSMENT by issuing a VARIATION ORDER in accordance with the VARIATION ASSESSMENT; (ii) reject the VARIATION ASSESSMENT and confirm to CONTRACTOR that it does not wish to pursue the proposed VARIATION; (iii) request that CONTRACTOR amend and re-issue the VARIATION ASSESSMENT for reasons stated by COMPANY; or (iv) reject the VARIATION ASSESSMENT for reasons stated by COMPANY and issue a VARIATION ORDER in which COMPANY determines the consequences of the VARIATION through its own reasonable determination. (b) If COMPANY issues a VARIATION ORDER for reasons of emergency, safety, or other reasonable necessity as provided above, COMPANY will make a reasonable determination of the consequences of the VARIATION, and set out the conclusions in the VARIATION ORDER.
