Variable Shift Assignment. Variable shift is defined as an employee hired into or assigned by the employer who has no set shift (i.e., day, evening, or night) within that unit. Variable shift employees shall receive a premium of two dollars ($2.00) an hour for hours worked as a variable shift employee.
