Valves and Appurtenances. The details and specifications of the various types of valves and appurtenances to be used in the distribution system are contained in this subsection. Throughout erection, the valves shall be supported properly on wooden sleepers, etc. and shall be concreted immediately thereafter, as directed. Before the valves are actually fixed, they shall be cleaned and greased and it shall be verified that all parts are in perfect working condition. In the case of air valves, the Contractor shall take special care of the dexine joints and the ebonite and /or vulcanite balls until they are fixed in position. They shall be kept immersed in water in suitable containers. The work of installing valves shall be carried out carefully so as not to damage them during handling, erection and fixing. The work shall be executed in a ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇ like manner under the direction of Employer’s Representative.
Valves and Appurtenances. ‌ Resilient seated gate valves shall be used for water mains twelve-inch and smaller. Gate valves shall meet the requirements of AWWA C509 or C515 and shall have epoxy lining and coating according to AWWA C550. Butterfly valves will only be permitted when gate valves may not allow adequate “surface to operator nut” clearance. Rubber seated butterfly valves shall be used for water mains larger than twelve-inch. Butterfly valves shall meet the requirements of AWWA C504, Class 150B shall have epoxy lining and coating according to AWWA C550. Shaft seals shall be standard O-ring seals, designed for replacement under line pressure. Isolation valves will be installed on all City mains at intervals no greater than 500 linear feet. At water main intersections, two valves shall be installed on a tee fitting and three valves shall be installed at a cross fitting. Submittal data will be required for all valves installed in the City system. Valve boxes will be cast iron Tyler model 6855 or approved equal. Valve extensions are required if the valve nut is deeper than 36” from finish grade.

The item includes transportation of valves and accessories from store yard to site, loading, unloading, hoisting, lowering, grinding wherever necessary, assembling and jointing, including cost of jointing materials such as rubber packing, nuts bolts etc., providing temporary supports, all complete with approved equipment, for all leads and lifts. The item shall be as per specification, drawing and as directed. (a) 400 mm Dia PN1.6 Nos 1.00 3.4 Handling, aligning, and fixing in true to line and level following diameters and rating double flanged Butterfly valves . (manually operated as per IS 13095) including cost of required jointing material such as rubber packing, nuts bolts etc. The item includes transportation of valves and accessories from store yard to site, loading, unloading, hoisting, lowering, grinding wherever necessary, assembling and jointing, providing temporary supports etc., all complete with approved equipment, for valves of following diameters, for all lead and lift.
