University Committees. PSE will be notified of any Employer committee that includes, or is intended to include, bargaining unit representation, and will be accorded the opportunity to name a representative of the bargaining units to such committee.

University Committees. 8.03 A bargaining unit employee appointed or invited to serve on a University Committee as a representative of the Union will be granted time away from work with pay for the meeting time. All requests for time away from work under this Article shall be submitted to the employee’s Manager/designate with as much advance notice as possible. Union representatives shall report back to their Manager/designate when the meeting ends. Paid time away from work under this Article shall not extend beyond normal working hours.
University Committees. Staff members accepting an office or committee work with a University committee must first obtain the authorization of their supervisor and/or Department/College Head. Such authorization shall not be unreasonably withheld. The University recognizes the contribution of staff members who become involved in such committee work, and wherever possible, the University will provide time off during working hours for activities which are an integral part of the operation of such committees, and at the request of the employee and with the approval of the supervisor, time off in lieu for committee meetings scheduled outside normal working hours. Time is normally granted to attend meetings during normal working hours, but must be approved by the supervisor. Committee members should notify fellow departmental staff members to ensure that service is maintained in departments at all times. Costs for committee use of reasonable quantities of supplies and services (e.g. stationery, photocopying, postage, telex, IUTS) will be absorbed by the University. Appropriate budget accounts should be employed for the charging of such materials or services.
University Committees. Employees may request to participate in University committees affecting their wages, hours, or working conditions. These requests will be made in writing to their supervisor. Denials of such request will be provided to the employee in writing. Copies will be forwarded to the assigned Union Representative. Denials will be based upon a legitimate business reason. The Union or the Employee may request a review of the denial by the University’s Labor Relations Officer.

  • Safety Committees Joint employee-elected and Employer appointed safety committees shall be formed in accord with WISHA requirements and following University of Washington policy. The Union is entitled to representation on the University-wide or specific organizational or divisional committees where bargaining unit employees are working. Any department or unit committee also dealing with health and safety issues in work areas shall appropriately involve bargaining unit employees. Participation in safety and health committees, including meeting time, health and safety research, work on committee assignments, seminars, and classes will be considered time worked for all employees in accordance with University policy. Release time must be arranged with supervisors in advance. When the committee makes a recommendation that requires action or approval beyond its scope of authority, the Employer will communicate its disposition of the formal written recommendation within thirty (30) days.

  • Sub-Committees 15.1 The Joint Committee shall establish the membership and terms of reference for any sub-committees or sub-groups which it establishes and may dissolve such sub-committees or sub-groups. Sub-committees to which the Joint Committee delegates functions are bound by the provisions of this Agreement regulating the taking of decisions by the Joint Committee. The Joint Committee may create additional sub-committees from time to time as it sees fit.
