Common use of Unit Orientation Clause in Contracts

Unit Orientation. Unit orientation will consist of a comprehensive program in which the nurse will be oriented to the unit through a combination of instructional conferences and on-unit assignments. The objectives of unit orientation shall be: 1. To familiarize new nurses with the objectives and philosophy of the Hospital and nursing services. 2. To orient new nurses to policies and procedures and to their functions and responsibilities as defined in their job description. Nurses shall not be required to perform duties for which they are not oriented or trained. As a general practice, newly hired nurses in orientation shall not replace regular nurses.
