Tree Staking. No trees shall be supported unless specifically approved by the City Forester. The Contractor shall promptly remove and replant a tree that leans or rotates in its planting bed during the warranty period as determined by the Forester. Replanting shall occur within two weeks or by the end of the warranty period, whichever is sooner, at no additional cost to the City.

Tree Staking. A. Trees: Anchor tree root balls as detailed using Anchor System 1 or 2 or 3 depending on the trunk caliper of the tree. B. Strictly follow manufacturer’s installation instructions.
Tree Staking a) Contractors shall, at no additional cost to the City, stake and tie all trees which require support. b) Tree stakes shall be pentachlorophenol treated, lodgepole pine not less than eight feet (8') in length. Two (2) tree stakes are required per tree. c) Guy wires where required will be of pliable, zinc-coated ten gauge wire (three ties per tree), and should have a white P.V.C. sleeve for visibility. d) Trees shall be secured to stakes with cinch ties or equivalent. Contractors shall not use wire and hose. e) Stakes shall not be placed closer than eight (8) inches from the tree trunk. f) Stakes and ties shall be placed so no chafing of bark occurs and shall be checked frequently, and re-tied as necessary, to prevent girdling.
Tree Staking. The Contractor shall maintain existing stakes, ties, and protective devices, providing replacements at all times during the entire contract term, on all young trees until such time as they are no longer needed for support. The Contractor shall remove the stakes at this time, at no additional cost. Special care shall be taken to avoid any damage to tree trunks or branches by ties and stakes. Staked trees shall be inspected as needed to prevent such damage. The Contractor shall replace any plant material damaged due to negligence and/or lack of proper inspection at the Contractor’s cost. Trees shall be tied to stakes using only two broad ties of flexible material unless the Contractor obtains prior approval by the Contract Manager to use an optional method.
