5.2.3 Switched Access traffic, or interLATA toll traffic, as specifically defined in USWC’s state and interstate Switched Access Tariffs, and generally identified as that traffic that originates at one of the Party’s end users and terminates at an IXC point of presence, or originates at an IXC point of presence and terminates at one of the Party’s end users, whether or not the traffic transits the other Party’s network.
5.2.4 Transit traffic is any traffic other than Switched Access, that originates from one Telecommunications Carrier's network, transits another Telecommunications Carrier's network, and terminates to yet another Telecommunications Carrier's network. Transit service provides the ability for a Telecommunications Carrier to use its connection to a local or access tandem for delivery of calls that originate with a Telecommunications Carrier and terminate to a company other than the tandem company, such as another Co-Provider, an existing LEC, or a wireless carrier. In these cases, neither the originating nor terminating end user is a customer of the tandem Telecommunications Carrier. The tandem Telecommunications Carrier will accept traffic originated by a Party and will terminate it at a Point of Interconnection with another local, intraLATA or interLATA network Telecommunications Carrier. This service is provided through local and access tandem switches.
