TORNADO. PLAN The Saline Plant Tornado Plan consists of two stages, Tornado Watch and Tornado Warning. Tornado Watch

TORNADO. Tune radio to KIRO 710 AM. • Tornado Watch - Tornado is likely. Tornado Warning - Tornado has been sighted. • Move all children to a wall in the classroom without windows. If outdoors, return to the building. • Access emergency provisions if necessary. • Parents may call the school or any cell number listed above. TSUNAMI – • Tune radio to KIRO 710 AM for updates. • Move children to the second floor of the building. Bring emergency provisions upstairs. • Flood Watch - Flooding is possible and be on alert. Flood Warning - Flooding is imminent and necessary precautions should begin. • Parents may call the school or any cell number listed above. VIOLENCE – • Assess life and safety issues immediately. • Implement “Evacuate” or “Lock-Down” procedures. • Phone 911. • Provide immediate emergency medical care. • Account for all children. • Parents may call any cell number listed above. VOLCANO – • Tune radio to KIRO 710 AM for updates. • Shut down ventilation system. Stay inside. Seal all doors. • Access emergency backpacks and provisions if necessary. • Assure that children and staff with lung conditions apply masks and goggles found in emergency backpacks. • Parents may call the school or any cell number listed above. WINTER STORM – • Tune radio to KIRO 710 AM or local television station for weather updates. • Winter Storm Watch - Conditions present that could cause weather emergency. Winter Storm Warning - Severe weather expected and precautions should be taken. • Access portable generator. Emergency lighting will come on if there is a power outage. Charged flashlights are located in all areas of the school.
TORNADO. DEFENSE PLAN There are several factors that must be taken into consideration when developing plans for tornado preparedness. TIME In the event of a tornado, take the following actions immediately in order to protect yourself. Go to areas designated areas, which are posted in all rooms.
TORNADO. In the event of tornado warning, your Organization should have a deck evacuation plan that includes that all outdoor swimming must be suspended and provides directions to an appropriate evacuation shelter. Your Organization should communicate your Emergency Weather Plan with any visiting teams.
TORNADO. DRILL Alert-- One (1) continuous ring All clear--One (1) continuous ring OPEN WINDOWS - CLOSE DOORS Sit facing the wall with your head down and covered with hands. DISTURBANCE EVACUATION DRILL Alert --Two (2) short rings followed by one (1) long ring All clear -- One (1) continuous ring CLOSE ALL DOORS Exit building by previously designated routes. PREVENTION AND RESPONSE PLAN Effective and safe schools are well prepared for any potential crisis or violent act. In the event of a serious disorder, or a disturbance, necessary procedures will be initiated to insure the safely of all students, staff, and visitors. Alexander Elementary has established prevention and response plans that include both lock down and disturbance evacuation procedures. The purpose of this plan is to be prepared and insure students remain safe in the event a dangerous disturbance occurs. The staff at Alexander Elementary is well trained in the area of prevention and response procedures. Both lock down and disturbance evacuation drills are held during the school year at the minimum of once per semester. Employees at the Commerce School District also receive training in this area through staff in service. DISCIPLINE POLICY OF COMMERCE PUBLIC SCHOOL One of the most important lessons education should teach is discipline. While it does not appear as a subject, it underlies the whole educational structure. It is the training that develops self control, character, orderliness, and efficiency. It is the key to good conduct and proper consideration for other people. With an understanding of the purposes of discipline in a school, you may form a correct attitude toward it, and not only do your part in making your school an effective place of learning, but develop the habit of self restraint which will make you a better person. Policy on student behavior is in accordance with School Laws of Oklahoma 2009, Section 487.2, Control and Discipline of Child, (70-24-100.4).
