SURFACE FINISHING Clause Samples

The SURFACE FINISHING clause defines the required quality, texture, and appearance of the surfaces of materials or products after manufacturing or installation. It typically specifies standards or methods for finishing, such as painting, polishing, coating, or other treatments, and may reference industry benchmarks or sample finishes for comparison. This clause ensures that the final product meets aesthetic and functional expectations, reducing disputes over workmanship and clarifying the level of finish required.
SURFACE FINISHING. Surface finishing shall have a semi-gloss sheen, and shall be one of the following Federal Standard 595B colors: Green # 14036, Brown # 10049, Black # 27038, Grey # 26147 or as selected by the EIU. 4.46.1 PAINT All painted posts and/or painted surfaces shall be cleaned of all foreign matter, such as loose paint, rust, dirt, and grease before painting. Paint used must be of the anti-graffiti, corrosion resisting, non-conductive, semi-gloss type as manufactured by Armor Products, Inc., by BC Products International, Inc., by ConLux Coatings, Inc. or an NYCDOT approved equal.

Paint Characteristics: - The protective coating must exhibit the following characteristic. Exceptional resistance to ultra violet light, road salt compounds, and industrial chemical fumes. High impact resistance forward and reverse to withstand 160 psi directly without cracking, chipping, or peeling. Display a water transmission rate of less than 0.00000005 Perms. Bend over 180 degrees and 1/8" mandrel without cracking. Suitable for applications in below freezing temperatures. Resist solvents for removal of graffiti off painted surface. Resist flame or high temperatures to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Shall possess unique molecular structure suitable for brush, roll or spray application to achieve high quality, general purpose usage, exceptional spreadability and adhesion. Exhibit corrosion resistance equal to that tested as part of Painting System #41 by the Steel Structures Painting Council.

Maximum of 40 percent volatile by volume. Minimum of 60 degrees Fahrenheit Flashpoint. Formulated with air-out additives for flowability. Two part aliphatic urethane with a 3 to 1 mixture ration and an absolute minimum of 60 percent solid content. Maximum VOC of 3.45 per gallon. 4.2.42.2.
