Surface Cleaning. Any areas modified by chipping or hammering shall be cleaned with high pressure water at 7,500 psi minimum to remove any bond-breaking residue, loose concrete, and any deleterious material. This material shall be collected and disposed of by the contractor. Any areas of the prepared surface contaminated by oil or other materials detrimental to good bond as a result of the contractor’s operations shall be cleaned at the contractor’s expense. Removal of concrete debris shall be accomplished either by hand or mechanical means capable of removing wet debris and water in the same pass and after the hydro-demolition process to prevent debris from setting or adhering to the surface of the sound concrete. All concrete debris shall become the property of the Contractor and shall be legally disposed of at the contractor’s expense. The contractor shall be responsible for disposing of all debris generated by the scarification and hydro-demolition operations. Any debris which is allowed to set or adhere to the surface of the sound concrete shall be carefully removed at no additional cost.
