SUPERVISION WORKING. 268 Supervisory employees shall not perform work in any job classification of a seniority unit except as outlined in Paragraph 269. -269 It is understood that supervisory employees may from time to time perform tasks normally assigned to bargaining unit employees. However, supervisors will not perform work which would deprive regular employees of overtime, cause regular employees to work any reduced hours, nor will they perform any bargaining unit work when regular employees are laid off in the individual unit where the work is being performed. The parties agree that the Union, Housing and Food Services and Employee Relations representatives will commit to act immediately to address concerns raised by the Union over administration of this section.

The same thing is true when operational difficulties are encountered or in the testing of materials. Likewise, instruction or training of employees may well include demonstrating proper methods of accomplishing the tasks assigned and no dispute over the policy stated above shall be occasioned by such demonstration.

30.2 Supervisory employees may perform Bargaining Unit work in emergency situations when regular employees are not immediately available, to conduct tests to analyze operational difficulties encountered with materials and/or equipment and to instruct or train employees including demonstrating proper methods of performing the work assigned.

SUPERVISION WORKING a. Supervision shall not perform work on hourly rated jobs, emergencies excepted, where the effect is to deny any employees work to which the employees would otherwise be entitled and for which they are available. It is understood that supervision will normally perform work in the following circumstances:
(i) In line with or in the course of supervisory duties including the training and instruction of employees and demonstrating proper methods of working and performing the job; to protect the safety of employees and equipment and to overcome production problems of an emergency nature.
(ii) To avoid temporary interruption of continuous operations or schedules.
b. The Company retains the right to utilize:
(i) Supervisory and other technically trained personnel to perform necessary experimental, special mechanical, or research and development work deemed necessary by the Company, and
(ii) Management trainees not included in the bargaining unit to work as required for their training purposes. However, such trainees shall not displace a member of the bargaining unit.
