Summer Break. During summer break, all custodial personnel assigned to a school building, excluding the District Office, shall work a standard work day in which the hours may range from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Coaches, the Athletic Director or a building principal will have the responsibility to secure any school building that houses programs or events past the standard 4:00 p.m. end of day for custodial personnel. Building administrators shall not alter the custodial workers’ schedule to accommodate a school activity. The summer work schedule will begin two days after the last student day of school and end two weeks prior to the first student day of school for the Middle and High School. The summer work schedule for Elementary schools will begin two days after the last student day of school and end the day before open house, provided that during the last two weeks of the summer schedule the building principal may adjust the work schedule, if needed, to cover any evening events.

Summer Break. Students who wish to stay during the Summer Break must apply to stay in summer housing by submitting the Summer Housing Form by the designated date to the Office of Residence Life. Students approved to stay in summer housing must move in and out of their designated assignment by the pre- determined dates set by the Office of Residence Life.

An employee who will not be available to work the summer break shall notify the Employer in writing prior to the four (4) week notice period.

Summer Break. The addition of a maximum two week period to any teacher's leave is directly related to returns affected by such scheduled breaks in the year. The teacher shall apply for the leave specifying the selected return date on the form to be provided by the District and shall submit such to the District no later than two weeks prior to the start date of the leave. The return date may not precede the actual date of delivery. Any extension of leave beyond the total time specifically provided for in the Act and in Article will not permit the rein- statement of the teacher to her former assignment. Those return dates exceeding the time framed within the fore- going would permit the teacher to receive reinstatement to an alternative position of a comparable nature.
Summer Break. In addition, the SRO may be temporarily reassigned by the Police Department during other school holidays and vacations, training periods, police emergencies, or other occasions, as agreed upon between Linn-Mar and the Department, with the understanding that the Police Department shall be the final arbiter of all such decisions. Regular working hours may be adjusted on a situational basis, with the approval of the SRO supervisor or his/her designee. These adjustments may be to attend Linn- Mar-related events for which the presence of a law enforcement officer is required or desirable. Such adjustments shall be in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Police Department’s Bargaining Unit’s contract with the City.
Summer Break. Custodians regularly contracted for less than 8 hours per day may be given the opportunity to work up to 8 hours per day during the summer at their regular rate of pay. The Superintendent or his/her designee will determine the need for the extra hours and will notify said employees prior to the summer break what hours are available. These additional hours will be offered on a district-wide seniority basis to short hour custodians. Unpaid days off during scheduled summer break hours must be approved by the Superintendent at the time of acceptance of extra work. Bargaining Unit Members who work in other classifications that are offered summer custodial work when there are not enough short hour custodians available shall be paid the starting rate for Custodian as listed in Article XVI per hour for said work.
