Study Objectives. Based on the study research questions, the key study objectives for the MPhil thesis are stated below. 1.3.1 To gather information on the evidence and experience of involvement of mental health service users and their caregivers and community members in the Indian mental health system 1.3.2 To identify current level of involvement of mental health service users and their caregivers and community members in any of the building blocks of the Indian mental health system 1.3.3 To inquire how mental health service users and their caregivers conceptualise their own involvement in the different aspects of the mental health service including service delivery and development processes in India. 1.3.4 To comprehend the role stigma plays in the mental health service in India restricting greater mental health service user and caregiver involvement and to explore how stigma in understood, experiences and address in the mental health service 1.3.5 To suggest processes embedding potential facilitators and strategies to attain greater mental health service user and caregiver involvement in the mental health service in India 1.3.6 To gather information on the parameters evaluating greater involvement of mental health service users and caregivers and simultaneous improvement in the mental health service in India 1.3.7 To gather information on how increased involvement of mental health service users and caregivers can potentially improve the Indian mental health service thus strengthening the mental health service in a fair, efficient and sustainable way.
