Stopcocks. Make sure you know where the main stopcock is for turning off your water supply. It is usually under the kitchen sink. If you cannot find it or are not sure, ask your Estate Officer to show you. On some estates, heating and hot water is supplied to each flat from a central boiler. If your home is heated in this way, we will charge you the cost of this with your rent. It is wise to have some form of emergency heating in your home like an electric fire. We can lend you an electric fire if you are elderly or have a baby and your heating has broken down. We only have a limited number of these appliances.
