Stop Payment Fee Sample Clauses

A Stop Payment Fee clause establishes a charge that a customer must pay when requesting the bank or financial institution to halt the processing of a specific payment, such as a check or electronic transfer. Typically, this fee is applied each time a stop payment order is placed, regardless of the reason, and may be listed in the institution’s schedule of fees. The core function of this clause is to compensate the institution for the administrative effort involved in intercepting and canceling payment instructions, while also discouraging frivolous or frequent stop payment requests.
