Standard Plans Clause Samples
The "Standard Plans" clause defines the requirement for the use of pre-approved or industry-standard design documents, drawings, or specifications in a project. Typically, this clause mandates that all construction or engineering work must adhere to these established plans unless otherwise agreed upon by the parties. For example, a contractor may be required to follow standard architectural blueprints provided by the client or regulatory body. The core practical function of this clause is to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with recognized standards, thereby reducing the risk of errors, disputes, or non-conformance during project execution.
Standard Plans. On the Contract Plans, Working Drawings, and Standard Plans, figured dimensions shall take precedence over scaled dimensions. This order of precedence shall not apply when Work is required by one part of the Contract but omitted from another part or parts of the Contract. The Work required in one part must be furnished even if not mentioned in other parts of the Contract. If any part of the Contract requires Work that does not include a description for how the Work is to be performed, the Work shall be performed in accordance with standard trade practice(s). For purposes of the Contract, a standard trade practice is one having such regularity of observance in the trade as to justify an expectation that it will be observed by the Contractor in doing the Work. In case of any ambiguity or dispute over interpreting the Contract, the Engineer’s decision will be final as provided in Section 1-05.1.
