SIGN LANGUAGE PREMIUM. Any qualified Unit employee who is requested by the hearing impaired assistance center to utilize sign language shall receive compensation equal to two and three-quarter percent (2.75%) of their salary or wages for each business day the skill is utilized. Such practices of additional compensation shall be in accordance with LAAC Section 4.84.1.

SIGN LANGUAGE PREMIUM. Any qualified employee covered by the provisions of the MOU who is requested by the hearing impaired assistance center to utilize sign language shall receive compensation equal to 2.75 percent of their salary or wages for each business day the skill is utilized. SIGN LANGUAGE PREMIUM. ‌ Any qualified employee covered by the provisions of the MOU who has been certified as proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) to provide City services to the deaf community, and who is requested by the employing department to utilize ASL skills in the performance of their job duties, shall be compensated at the first premium level rate above their step rate of the salary range for their class for each business day the skill is utilized. Such premium pay shall be administered in accordance with and subject to all requirements and provisions of Section 4.84.1 of the LAAC. Additional compensation is non-pensionable.
