Side Effects. Side effects are normal physical reactions to medications. Common side effects of opioids/narcotics include mood changes, drowsiness, dizziness, constipation, nausea, and confusion. Many of these side effects will resolve over days or weeks. Constipation often persists and may require additional medication.
