SHIFT STRENGTH Clause Samples

The "Shift Strength" clause defines the conditions under which an employee's work shift is considered valid or enforceable, often specifying the minimum or maximum number of hours that constitute a shift. In practice, this clause may set parameters for shift duration, rest periods, or the flexibility to adjust shift lengths based on operational needs. Its core function is to ensure clarity and consistency in scheduling, helping both employers and employees understand their obligations and rights regarding work hours.
SHIFT STRENGTH. 36.1. The department shall maintain a minimum of one hundred forty three (143) uniform personnel on duty per shift, which also includes one (1) Air Truck Driver, Car 74, and FCIO. 36.2. The City and Union agree that for fiscal year 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 the Chief will have discretion to reduce or adjust the staffing of uniform personnel down to one hundred and forty (140) uniform personnel on duty per shift based upon service needs.
SHIFT STRENGTH. Section 1: Except as provided in Section 2 below, it is the present intent of the University to maintain a minimum number of personnel on-duty on at all times as follows: a. one (1) shift supervisor, which may be an officer-in-charge (a designated police officer);a sergeant; or a person with a police rank higher than sergeant. b. two (2) patrol officers, c. one (1) dispatcher. Section 2: It is further provided, however, that during holidays, closure period, Summer Sessions, weekend day shifts, and under other circumstances in which, in the opinion of the University, the above staffing level need not be met, it may be reduced. However, there shall, whenever possible, be at least two (2) sworn police officers of the Patrol Officer classification or higher on patrol at all times.
SHIFT STRENGTH. Sufficient personnel shall be maintained on duty and available for response to calls. Sufficient regular patrol Officers shall be available to provide a minimum of 8 regular patrol Officers for an 8 hour shift. If sufficient personnel are not available to meet the minimum staffing requirements, regular patrol officers shall be retained or recalled on overtime.
SHIFT STRENGTH. Section 1: Except as provided in Section 3 below, it is the present intent of the University to maintain a minimum number of personnel on-duty on at all times as follows: A. one (1) shift supervisor, which may be an officer-in-charge (a designated police officer); a sergeant; or a person with a police rank higher than sergeant. B. two (2) patrol officers, Section 2: 1. Officers/supervisors assigned to a special event do not count towards shift strength.
SHIFT STRENGTH. It is the intent of both parties to follow Article 15 for minimum shift strength. But on short notice, and at the discretion of the shift supervisor, the minimum shift strength may be reduced to two (2) sworn police officers of the Patrol Officer classification or higher on patrol at all times and one (1) dispatcher. Examples of short notice include but are not limited to, sick leave or emergencies where the scheduled officer cannot report for duty.
SHIFT STRENGTH. (i) Subject to A(ii) below, the Corporation shall maintain regular shift strength at the following levels except where unforeseeable events or the circumstances described in Section A(ii) render this intent unreasonable: Station #1 – ▇▇▇▇ Valley 7 Fire Fighters, inclusive of a Lieutenant & Captain* Station #2 – Lynnmour 4 Fire Fighters, inclusive of a Captain Station #3 – Montroyal 4 Fire Fighters, inclusive of a Captain Station #4 – Deep Cove 4 Fire Fighters, inclusive of a Captain Station #5 – Norgate 4 Fire Fighters, inclusive of a Captain *In the event that the Letter of UnderstandingGrievance Resolution/Re- Organization/Collective Agreement Amendments, which was signed on March 11, 2016 is ratified, the Employer will schedule shift strength at Station #1 with 7 Fire Fighters, inclusive of two (2) Captains.
