Common use of Severability; Drafting Clause in Contracts

Severability; Drafting. The invalidity of any one or more of the provisions of this Mortgage shall not affect the remaining provisions of this Mortgage. If any one or more of the provisions of this Mortgage should be held by any court of law to be invalid, or should operate to render this Mortgage invalid or to impair the lien and security interest of this Mortgage on all or the major portion of the property intended to be mortgaged hereunder, this Mortgage shall be construed as if such provisions had not been contained therein. In the event of a dispute between any of the parties hereto over the meaning of this Mortgage, all parties shall be deemed to have been the drafter hereof, and any Applicable Law that states that contracts are construed against the drafter shall not apply.
