Sergeants. 36.01 Sergeant position(s) that the Company require to be filled shall be bulletined by location/district.
Sergeants. If two (2) or more Bargaining Unit Members are promoted to Sergeant on the same date, for purpose of breaking the tie seniority will be determined by the length of time the member was employed as a deputy and/or contract City Law Enforcement Officer. The more time employed as a deputy and/or contract City Law Enforcement Officer would have more seniority. If both sergeants were promoted on the same date and were deputies and/or contract City Law Enforcement Officers for the same period of time, the lowest CCN number constitutes the senior member.
Sergeants. Sergeants will rotate with, and be responsible for the supervision of their Coverage Units. When a sergeant’s Coverage Unit is working the weekday schedule, that sergeant will work the day shift. When a sergeant’s Coverage Unit is working the schedule that includes a weekend, that sergeant will work one of the night shifts. The purpose of this rotation is to ensure that sergeants have the ability to work with, and directly observe all officers under their supervision. Whenever practicable, flexible scheduling shall be allowed for sergeants, subject to the approval of management. Approval shall not be unreasonably withheld or withheld for an arbitrary, capricious or discriminatory reason.
Sergeants. Seniority" for Sergeants shall be total service in the rank of Sergeant, for the purpose of Patrol shift selection as set forth in Section 14.1 of this Agreement.
Sergeants. Members promoted to the position of Sergeant will maintain seniority within the bargaining unit. However, members in the position of Sergeant will have a separate seniority list. Time served as a Sergeant within the Department will count toward the separate Sergeant seniority. Any time spent acting as an AIC Sergeant, that is contiguous to promotion to Sergeant will count toward separate Sergeant seniority. Non-contiguous AIC Sergeant time will not count toward separate Sergeant seniority. Then the date of promotion/appointment for future salary increases within the salary range of the employee’s new classification will be the date of the employee’s initial appointment to such contiguous AIC status.
Sergeants. 1. Sergeants with one (1) year of full-time service as defined in section B of this article, and at least one hundred (100) merit points shall receive a (Merit Level I) base salary increase of four and a half (4 ½) percent up to a maximum base salary of $92,970.00.
2. Sergeants with two (2) years of full-time service as defined in section B of this article, and at least two hundred (200) merit points shall receive a (Interim Merit) base salary increase of two
Sergeants in order of seniority, shall select one of the ten patrol teams. Sergeants may select any open team with the exception of those teams designated as Field Training teams. FTO Sergeants, in order of seniority, will select one of the designated FTO teams.
Sergeants. The methodology for appointment to temporary duty in the classification of Sergeant shall, in addition to the general requirements in Section 18.1, be subject to the following specific requirements and clarification:
(a) The most senior corporal or patrol officer on duty by regular assignment only and not by voluntary or forced overtime assignment, shall be selected for appointment to temporary duty in the classification of Sergeant (the “Acting Sergeant”); and
(b) Such temporary assignment as Acting Sergeant shall continue until the earliest of the following events:
(i) An actual Sergeant relieves the Acting Sergeant; or
(ii) The regular duty assignment (watch/shift) of the Acting Sergeant ends.
(c) For purposes of clarification for this Section 18.3, a “watch” shall be considered equivalent to a “shift” as that term is used in Section 6-5-7(d) of the City Ordinances and as referred to in Article 18 of the CBA between the parties.
Sergeants. The County will provide Sergeant(s) who will be selected by the County. The City shall be provided notice of and may elect to participate and provide input into the selection process. The Sergeants will be assigned to the City to provide patrol supervision for Sheriff’s Department deputies, provide patrol services, assist the Chief as directed, and serve as the Acting Chief in the Chief’s absence at the discretion of the City. Sergeant patrol services will be provided when regular duty or extra duty staff is unavailable; provided that such patrol services will occur only to the extent reasonably practicable in consideration of Sergeant administrative duties and the service levels described in Exhibit A. In the event a Sergeant position cannot be filled due to a lack of applicants, or if applicant(s) are not successful during the selection process, the position will be filled according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department Guild contract.
Sergeants. There shall be a minimum of four (4) sergeants in each patrol division.
