Sections. 8.4.1.3 When an employee attains an academic degree or equivalent appropriate to their subject area or the professional development of the employee during employment at Capilano College, and this degree or equivalent is in excess of the degree(s) or equivalent accreditation normally required for his/her position, the employee shall advance one (1) step on the salary schedule on his/her next increment date, in addition to their increment progression described in 8.4.1.1 and 8.4.1.2 above. The determination of whether an employee has attained an “equivalent” to an academic degree shall be made by the Vice President of Human Resources. The Vice President of Human Resources’ decision may be appealed by the employee to the Placement Committee.
