Common use of Section 6.4.1 Clause in Contracts

Section 6.4.1. regular work shift will consist of eight and one-half (8 ½) hours which includes an 33 uninterrupted thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch period as near the middle of the shift as is 34 practicable, and also include a fifteen (15) minute first half and a fifteen (15) minute second 35 half rest period, which shall also occur as near the middle of each half shift as is practicable. 37 Employees working during the summer break, upon approval of their supervisor, shall be 38 allowed flexibility in scheduling their lunch break and rest periods. 40 Any shift of seven and one-half (7 ½) hours, up to eight (8) hours, shall receive an unpaid thirty 41 (30) minute uninterrupted lunch period as near the middle of the shift as is practicable. The 42 employee shall also receive a fifteen (15) minute first half and a fifteen (15) minute second half 43 rest period, both of which rest periods shall occur as near the middle of each half shift as is 44 practicable. 46 Any shift of five and one-half (5 ½) up to, but not including seven and one-half (7 ½) hours, 47 shall receive an unpaid thirty (30) minute uninterrupted lunch period and one (1) fifteen (15) 48 minute rest period. 1 Any shift of three (3) up to five (5) hours, shall receive one (1) fifteen (15) minute rest period. 2 Employees working up to three (3) hours shall receive no rest period. 4 In the event that the employee is required by his/her immediate supervisor or building 5 administrator to remain on duty during the meal period, and is therefore required to forego the 6 meal period, or any portion thereof, the employee shall be compensated for the foregone meal 7 period, or portion thereof, at the appropriate rate of pay.
