Section 1. General. 1.1 The District shall make a reasonable effort to provide employment and a place of employment which is as safe as the nature of the employment and assigned duties reasonably permit. A unit member shall not be required to perform duties under conditions which pose an immediate and serious threat of serious bodily harm to the unit member, provided that he or she has taken reasonable means within his or her discretion to remedy the condition.
